A: There is no cost for these services. In select circumstances, KidsNet may bill Medicaid, State contracted Services or Peach Care.
Q: How does KidsNet work?
A: Parent, school or agency refers child to KidsNet.
- KidsNet Service Coordinator sends Family Advocate to meet, assist, and assess eligibility.
- Family is assigned the Family Advocate who works with them beginning to end.
- KidsNet Team comes together.
- A Community Care Plan (Unified Plan)-a single, collaborative treatment plan- is agreed upon.
- The entire team meets weekly to keep the plan on tract and to evaluate progress.
Q: What happens when the referral is approved by the Local Interagency Team?
A: KidsNet Service Coordinator creates a support services team custom designed to meet the family's needs. The custom designed plan involves family participation and youth guidance, and is called the KidsNet Community Care Plan.
Q: Who makes up a KidsNet team?
A: Each unique team consists of the Service Coordinator, a family advocate and a behavioral aid, and anyone else the parent suggests.
Q: How can I stay better involved with KidsNet services?
A: Each week is a KidsNet System of Care staffing where pertinent and current issues are discussed. This staffing involves all community partners and parents. At any time, parents can contact their Family Advocate to get on the weekly agenda. Partners need to contact KidsNet Service coordinator to get on the weekly agenda.
Q: What if changes are needed to the KidsNet Team or Community Care Plan?
A: Remember, KidsNet is family-driven, so if parents are not satisfied or want to change Community Care Plan, they should contact their Family Advocate immediately. Partners should request a staffing at the weekly System of Care meeting.
Q: How long are intensive support services active?
A: KidsNet is designed to be a short-term, intensive community care strategy. Youth are eligible for services as long as they are deemed at-risk for out-of-community placement. This eligibility is based on KidsNet specific criteria, mental health assessments, functioning scores and other factors. Please contact your Service Coordinator for updated discharge criteria.
Q: Can someone recommend that a youth be discharged from KidsNet?
A: yes, anyone (family members or community partners) can recommend a KidsNet discharge. Family members simply contact your Service Coordinator. Community Partners must recommend a KidsNet discharge at the weekly system of Care meeting.
